International economic institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have played a vital role in assisting countries to deal with sovereign debt that can cripple their economies. Nonetheless, there has been harsh criticism regarding their 'counter-productive' loan policies that are said to be a hindrance to genuine poverty reduction. This project assesses the impact of the IMF and pinpoints any gaps that require improvement in the current economic and political landscape. Beyond the IMF itself, this project intends to spark thought and conversation on the matter, with the hope of advancing global economic governance while addressing global income inequality.
